WaterAid and Wimbledon: Art on tennis courts for clean water

WaterAid, in partnership with the Wimbledon Foundation, has created a tennis court mosaic to raise awareness about access to clean water. The artwork, made from tennis equipment, depicts a child and his mother from Madagascar who now have access to clean water thanks to this initiative.

The Wimbledon Foundation has been supporting WaterAid since 2017, aiming to improve water and hygiene access in several countries. The event highlights the importance of clean water, often taken for granted but lacking for millions of people. Ahead of Wimbledon, Slazenger delivered more than 55,000 balls for the event, which now runs until July 14. The balls are sold for charitable purposes, benefiting the Wimbledon Foundation and local organisations. Additionally, Slazenger, in collaboration with the Wimbledon Foundation and WaterAid, created a mosaic from donated tennis balls to highlight global water access initiatives. The materials used for the mosaic will be donated to local charities, reinforcing the Wimbledon Foundation’s community commitment.
