Freush off their League Cup triumph, Manchester City arrived at Wembley determined to end the season with silverware after their Champions League disappointment. Chelsea, inconsistent and desperate for a European lifeline, needed this final more than anyone but never showed enough to take it. Pep Guardiola’s side, featuring James Trafford, Antoine Semenyo, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Omar Marmoush and Jérémy Doku around Erling Haaland, immediately took command. Doku tested Robert Sánchez early (7’), Erling Haaland saw a goal ruled out for offside (27’), then forced another big save before the break (44’). Chelsea only stirred in the final minutes of the first half, without ever troubling Trafford.
Antoine Semenyo’s moment of magic
The second half began with Rayan Cherki replacing Marmoush, but it was Chelsea who pushed first. A coming‑together between Khusanov and João Pedro sparked debate (67’), yet not enough for a penalty.

Then came the breakthrough.
Haaland bulldozed his way down the left, held off his marker, and delivered a perfect ball across goal. Semenyo met it with a stunning madjer back‑heel to beat Sánchez (1–0, 72’). Chelsea nearly hit back instantly Enzo Fernández’s close‑range effort flew just over (73’). Neto then forced a crucial save from Trafford (80’), but the Blues’ defensive lapses continued. Cherki missed the chance to kill the game moments after Jorrel Hato denied Haaland with a heroic block (85’).

City claim the Cup and keep the trebble a Alive
The narrow scoreline was enough. Manchester City lift the FA Cup, their second trophy of the season, and remain firmly in the hunt for the Premier League title. Chelsea, meanwhile, are left with two league matches to salvage a European spot their last hope in a turbulent season.
